Sessions & Fees

Sessions are normally charged at approx. £40.00 per hour. Counselling sessions usually take place once a week initially, for those wanting longer term counselling the option to drop sessions down to alternate weeks or monthly will be available. If you require more than one hour per week, this can be arranged.

We appreciate that things can crop up unexpectedly, and that on occasion you may have to cancel an appointment. We ask that you give us as much notice as possible. If you cancel less than 48 hours before an appointment we regretfully have to make a small charge of £20.

Counselling consists of confidential one to one sessions where you will be given the space to talk about your problems and difficulties.

As an integrative counsellor, I aspire to provide services that help people grow and transform through improved self-awareness. I don’t believe in a one size fits all approach and I, therefore, adapt which tools, theories and approaches I use depending on the individual/couple/group I am working with.

cognitive and behavioural therapies (focusing on the way people think and behave)
psychoanalytic therapies (looking at how past experiences affect the present)
humanistic therapies (with a focus on self-development and growth)
other therapies (such as mindfulness)

There are many reasons why someone may seek counselling, here are some examples:

  • ‘I feel too anxious to cope’
  • ‘My GP said it would be helpful’
  • ‘I want to talk to somebody about what happened in the past – it’s eating away at me’
  • ‘I keep getting overwhelmed and I want to understand what’s going on in my mind’
  • ‘I’ve lost someone close to me and the grief feels too much to cope with on my own’

The initial consultation provides an opportunity for you to meet and talk with a counsellor before committing to weekly sessions. Together we will explore your difficulties, your aims, and goals. You will get to ask questions about confidentially, and gain an understanding of how counselling could help, after this you will be able to make a more informed decision as to whether you want to book weekly sessions. You won’t ever be tied in; some people come for 4-6 sessions, and others for several months or longer.
